Takaaki is CEO of Empath Inc. He was a Smartmedical’s general manager of the ICT department in 2011. As GM of the department, he developed Empath, a vocal emotion recognition AI. Prior to joining Smartmedical, Takaaki served as the board director of Yunin Corp, and contributed to the revitalization of Yunin township in Hokkaido by developing an agricultural experience game app for Mixi (the largest SNS in Japan). He was a research fellow at the University of Tokyo, Division for Health Service Promotion. He holds a B.A. from Waseda University in Education from the Department of Japanese Language and Literature.
Hazumu is CSO at Empath. After finishing his Ph.D research program at New York University in 2014, he joined Smartmedical to create global business strategies. Hazumu is the winner of 1776 Challenge Cup Tokyo in 2017 and Accenture Innovation Award at GITEX 2017. He has been invited by a lot of international conferences as a speaker such as Slush Tokyo, Health 2.0, and ATECH World (Abu Dhabi).
Hazumu holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Tokyo. He is also a research fellow at Aoyama Gakuin University, Department of Social Informatics. He loves literature and philosophy.
Sara was raised and graduated High School in Morocco. She moved to France in 2010 for university studies and graduated from the Grenoble Institute of Technology and Applied Mathematics with a master degree in computer science and mathematics. In 2015, Sara moved to Kyoto for a one year exchange program at Kyoto University, at the Department of Intelligence Science and Technology, to hold a research project oriented towards affective computing and emotion synthesis.
In 2015 and 2016, she worked as an intern in French companies as a full-stack web developer, creating apps for face recognition algorithms and a robo-advisor for automatic portfolio management. Sara speaks French, Arabic, English and Japanese.
Miho was raised and graduated High School in Osaka. She holds B.A and a master degree in Japanese Language Teaching in Akita International University. In 2016, she started her first career as a Sales Representative at Johnson & Johnson. While working the company, she dedicated herself to experience in HR department at the wedding startup. She moved to Chicago with her family and started to perform at The Second City which is one of the most famous comedy places in U.S. In 2018, she joined Empath as Sales for both local and global. She also has a role of Public Relations.
Masashi Suwa is a CSO, Consulting Director and Product Manager at Empath. He has engaged various projects related to Speech Analysis, RPA, and other Advanced technologies as a consultant, data analyst, and system engineer in multiple leading global IT companies. As a member of Empath, He is responsible for various consulting and development projects of how BPR and organizational changes can be achieved by utilizing AI and its emotion analysis. He holds a B.Eng. in Administration Engineering from Faculty of Science and Technology at Keio University, and an MSc in Information Systems and Organisation (Research) from Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Yusuke launched an online English conversation business in the Philippines. After that, he joined Digital Garage inc, where he was in charge of the overseas expansion of CRM media business for financial institutions. Since joining Empath in 2018, he leads the company's business strategy development.
Misuzu is an Accounting Manager at Empath Inc.
After graduating her university, her curiosity about "hospitality" encouraged her to work at one of the famous department stores in Japan. Not only working as a sales associate but also working as a personnel manager as her first career, her curiosity toward hospitality for co-workers let her challenge as a HR manager.
She has a lot of experiences at IT and fashion tech startups as a HR manager, an Accounting Manager, and so on. She has been experiencing in M&A at the startup as a Accounting Director.
Sayo has been interested in sensing since her student life and has some experiences in BtoC development and integration of sensing/control systems as an engineer. She joined a joint-project of the start-up in the Bay area in SF in 2017. Then she began to consider taking a part in the development of a more advanced sensing system and joined Empath Inc. as an engineer in 2020.
She also works on the prototyping of Sci-Fi for the next Tech as a Sci-Fi author.

Kensuke Nagaya is a data analyst at Empath. He holds a M.E. degree in computer science and communications engineering from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. In addition, he has a dream of “making humans and computers able to communicate emotionally in an equal relationship”, and joined Empath since February 2020.

Today, Don serves a variety of roles focused on supporting startups that seek to achieve truly world-class product experiences through successfully developed and integrated organizations, processes and portfolio roadmaps.
Born in 1985, Sputniko! is a Japanese/British artist based in Tokyo. Sputniko! is known for her film and multi-media installation works which explore the social and ethical implications of emerging technologies. She has recently presented her works in exhibitions such as the Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial (2019, NY), “Broken Nature” Milan International Design Triennial (2019, Milan) and Setouchi Art Trienniale (where she created a permanent art pavilion at the Benesse Art Site on Teshima). Sputniko! is currently an Associate Professor at the Tokyo University of Arts. From 2013 to 2017, Sputniko! was an Assistant Professor at the MIT Media Lab,where she founded and directed the Design Fiction group. She gave a TED talk as a TED Fellow in 2019 and she was also chosen as one of Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum in 2017. To date, she has had pieces included in the permanent collections of museums such as the V&A and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.

Mitsunori Mizumachi graduated from the Department of Acoustic Design, Kyushu Institute of Design, in 1995 and received his Ph.D. degree in Information Science from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2000. From 2000 to 2004, he worked as a researcher at Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), Kyoto. In 2004 and 2010, he was appointed as a Research Assistant and an Associate Professor at Kyushu Institute of Technology, respectively. He received the Awaya Prize Young Researcher Award from the Acoustical Society of Japan in 2005. He was the Chair for the Technical Committees on Electroacoustics of ASJ and Engineering Acoustics of IEICE in 2016. His research interests include acoustic signal processing, auditory perception, and the interaction between hearing and speaking.
Kenichi began his career as an author of video game strategy guide books, novelizations, and character guide books. After the books were over 1.3million copies in Japan, Kenichi served internet media start-up as a content producer, and later, worked for one of the subsidiaries of the Softbank Group as COO. From 2011, Kenichi is the founder and Service Development Consultant of Horbal Inc, a service development firm focusing on food, health and education industries. In 2016, Health Care apps, one of the clients that Kenichi was involved in from the planning phase, received the 1st prize from JAPAN SERVICE AWARD. In addition, Kenichi is currently working for several organizations as follows: Executive Director and CSO of Holoeyes Inc, a VR medical company selected for a Japanese government program "J-Startup.” A fellow of Mistletoe, a community for the collective impact approach. An advisor of Sollation, a venture company using both technological and psychological approaches. A fellow of Gakugei University Institute for the Future.

Grew in artist family, Erick has an unique skillset as a software engineer which is a keen eye of arts and designs. Therefore, in term of front end engineering, he will not let every details miss their exact coordinate. He's also gramatically perfectionist in writing which makes him pursue a beautiful and readable code. Erick always says "The best code doesn't need a comment, the code should explain itself".
He is an undergraduate of Multimedia Nusantara University major in Communication Science. Before joining Empati, he worked as an application analyst, and trainer and application support in one of University in Indonesia. He loves a study about social behavior, psychology, and history. He is interested in how technology is used to help people understand each other.
